National Drive Electric Week 2015

Although termed as National Drive  Electric Week 2015, this year's week-long exposition takes place in more than just the United States.  In China, Australia, Canada, the UK and the US there are electric auto shows occurring. Through the support of Nissan, Plug-In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association from as early as September 12th, until September 20th, electric cars are displayed by owners and corporations alike.  But it's more than merely a car club or two showing off their cars. It's an expose to showcase all aspects of life in and around the ideal of driving, if not living with electricity as an energy source.  While many of us has electricity in our homes, the vast majority still travel away to refuel our transportation.  But Electric Vehicle owners have the unique ability, via rooftop solar, to refuel at home, every day for free. If you are so inclined, take the opportunity to attend a local Drive Electric Week show this year.  You can find one near you here : Also, check out these great videos from around the world that show what's happening during National Drive Electric Week 2015

Charge Across Town – Palo Alto (Oct 8th 2014)

Charge Across Town You may remember Sven Thesen from our 2014 May meeting where he spoke about his involvement in the decision of Palo Alto to pass a law for EV charging in all new structures in the city.   He's bringing more EV fun to the city again at City Hall in downtown Palo Alto on October 8th.  But I will let him tell you in his own words...
Greetings EV Drivers! If you have friends and colleagues interested in test driving EVs but don’t want to go to a dealership, send them to this Wednesday’s EV Ride & Drive at Palo Alto ‘s City Hall from 10am-3pm.   BMW fans: EV I3s & I8s are part of the ride & drive! Sign up at: As an added bonus, on Wednesday at 9:30am, Palo Alto’s Mayor is launching a new quick charger (CHAdeMO, Leafs, RAV4s, i-Mievs) at Lytton and Alma Street, ~4 blocks from City Hall.  Bring your EV, tell the Mayor why this is important and be one of the first to use this free charger. And HELP - Charge Across Town is looking for volunteers to help with the above event Contact Maureen Blanc ( if you can help out, even if for part of the time.  I understand that she will buy lunch and more… EV Secret:  The quick charger noted at Lytton and Alma above is, as of today, operational! Swing by for a free quick charge!  BUT take your time in the parking, whoever designed the charging area had likely never driven an EV, never mind used a quick charger!!!
You can register via EventBrite, it's free.  The event will be held at the King Plaza in Palo Alto. Wednesday, Oct 8th 2014 from 10 AM to 3 PM
